Stakeholders Serve the Project
The hardest thing to manage on a digital project isn’t the tools or the deadlines. It’s the stakeholders.
Because a stakeholder is a human being. And a human being is never empty inside : they arrive with their own agendas, their assumptions, their cognitive biases. “I think that…”, “I’ve always done it this way…”
All of this covers over something we forget : every project has its own logic. An immanent logic that asks only to reveal itself — provided we stop imposing ours on it.
A project succeeds when the stakeholders put themselves at the service of the project. Not the other way around.
The project manager’s role isn’t to arbitrate agendas. It’s to protect the project’s own logic, and to create the conditions for it to run its course — without disturbing it.
At the service of the project. Not the other way around.
